Today we will begin to look at the The flow of energy in and out of the earth systems. I have posted a link to a video clip you are going to watch. The video is 44mins long so I am going to have you split it so that some is watched today and the rest on Thursday. I tried to set up a link that would end at 20:01 but it seems to play past it so you may have to stop it at 20:01. I have also sent a link to a slideshow which is where you are going to do the rest of your assignments for this class is. You will hand in this document to me every time we have an assignment due so I can see your progress. As soon as you click on the slideshow link below it will make you a copy. When you open up your personal slideshow copy make sure you go to share and see that it is shared with me. This way I can find it in the world of google in case you forget to submit it to me.
Due:
Use your outline and your research notes you have and put it all together. I have put some resources to help you on the bottom of this post. Good Luck and if you have any questions ask. I will still hold class on Wednesday and Friday if anyone has any questions.
Due:
Work on creating an outline for your final project. It should include what you plan on doing in your slide show, topics you will cover and any extras you might add. This is not due until Monday of next week to give everyone time to research. Please keep making progress.
Due:
Please take the following survey to let me know how things are going for you! Thank you. Ms. McEwan
Due:
This weeks agenda is for you to really have some time to get a lot of research on your project done. I am going to only check with you to see how it is going, give some tips if you are struggling and make sure that you are making some major effort towards finishing this project up. One thing that is very important is that you don't just copy and past your information from the source online to your presentation. This would be considered plagiarism which is something that can get you into a lot of trouble if you are not careful. By Friday I would like for you to send me some type of proof that you have done some research, it could be some notes types up in google drive from your research, it could be the beginning of your Bibliography with a brief reflection on what you have found, what information you are having any difficulty finding, etc., it may be a photo of your notes if you like to hand write your notes.
Due:
After our conversation and watching the video below send me a couple of sources you have for your project and explain to me why you think they are a good place to get information.
Update: I just added in the media bias chart I was talking about.

I have attached both templates and examples under the brainstorm topic.

Due:
Use the time this week to work on your final Project for Earth Science. You should be doing research to answer the questions you asked in your brainstorm. Please use reliable sources and keep track of what sites you get information from. I will be checking in with you later this week prior to spring break to see how you are doing and clarify some expectations for your final product.
Due:
I just wanted to see how many people have used Zoom out there. Moving forward there maybe some times we have to conduct a whole class session and I just wanted to see if you have had any experience with it yet? This can be good or bad experiences. I had my first meeting online yesterday, I know it is different then what we are all use to. However these are the times we are in. I hope you are all staying healthy.
Due:
Also this week I want you to go thru each of the assignments listed above and make sure they are done. I have sent some feedback to some of you which needs editing and resubmitting. If you do not have points for an assignments and it is returned that means there was something to edit. When you believe everything is done, minus your final project. Then submit done and I will check on my end to see if I agree.
Due:
7. Google Classroom is our new classroom for the remainder of the school year, I know teachers may be using it in different ways with you but my plan is to post any announcements I have for the class on the stream page and then all assignments and information I provide will be under classwork. I have the classwork page set up by weeks of learning. Do you understand how to navigate it? Have you been able to see everything? Please ask questions
Due:
I just sent each one of you an email to your school email. I would like for you to respond to me. Once you have done so come back here and hit submit. I wanted a chance for you to share what is on your mind, how things are going, ask questions, etc. I look forward to hearing back from you. Talk to you soon.

Due:
Ok, going to take a break from reviewing content and move into final projects for a few days. I am required to have contact with you various times thru out each week so I will require some check from time to time. Please check the google classroom daily if I have put something up, I will try to give any assignments a 2 day window for it to be complete. Now that we are not going to be meeting in person again I have been doing some rethinking of how our final projects will look. Please fill out the information below.
Due:
Using the internet see if you can find a topo map of either where you live or a favorite place you like to visit. See if you can share it with the class. If not you can always take either a screen shot of it and share that. Using the map see if you can find the items they talked about in the video. What is the contour interval? How how is the highest point? Are there any rivers on your map can you tell which way they are flowing? What is the general topography of the area( flat, hilly, mts, etc) This is meant to refresh what we have worked on so have some fun with it and see what you can learn.
Due:
Watch the video and then answer the questions in the document provided. This should be review. Please share and submit when done. : )
